Title 1 School-Parent-Student Compact for E. A. Harrold Elementary 
2016-2017

I Believe. I Achieve. We Succeed.

The staff of E. A. Harrold Elementary School and the parents of students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title 1, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) (participating children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.  This school-parent-student compact is in effect during school year 2016-2017.

Administrator Responsibilities

The E.A. Harrold Elementary School Administrator will:

  1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the state’s student academic and achievement standards.
  2. Coordinate ongoing and meaningful communication to students, parents, and staff members with dignity and respect through meetings, phone calls, conferences, technology, and progress reports.
  3. Model and teach behaviors which are used to treat others with dignity and respect.
  4. Provide staff development to promote standards-based instruction.
  5. Coordinate parental information in an understandable format.
  6. Seek opportunities in cooperation with community to provide transportation, childcare, and translators for parent involvement activities where applicable and if funds permit.

Teacher Responsibilities

The E. A. Harrold Elementary School Staff will:

  1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic and achievement standards.
  2. Hold annual parent-teacher conferences at flexible times during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.
  3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress.
  4. Provide parents reasonable and flexible access to staff.
  5. Provide parents and community members opportunities to volunteer, share information, and participate in their school activities.

Parent Responsibilities

We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

  1. Make sure my child maintains proper attendance and is punctual each day.
  2. Make sure that homework is completed when assigned and monitor amount of television my child watches each night.
  3. Volunteer at school (school or classroom activities).
  4. Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child’s education.  Attend parent conferences/meetings.
  5. Stay informed about my child’s education and communicate with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district either received by my child or by mail and respond, as appropriate.
  6. Serve to the extent possible on policy advisory groups for the school, the district, and the state.

Student Responsibilities

We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards.

Specifically, we will:

  1. Do homework when assigned and ask for help when needed.
  2. Read at least 20 minutes every day outside of school time.
  3. Give parents/guardians all notices and information received from my school every day.
  4. Accept responsibility for my own learning.  Come to school prepared to learn with necessary supplies.
  5. Show responsible behavior by following all school rules.  Stay away from things that keep me from doing my best.
