Standard 1: Welcoming All Families:

Families are active participants in the life of the school, and feel welcomed, valued, and connected to each other, to school staff, and to what students are learning and doing in class and school.

Standard 2: Communicating:

Families and school staff engage in regular, meaningful communication about student learning.

Standard 3: Supporting Student Success

Families and school staff continuously work together to support students’ learning and healthy development both at home and at school, and have regular opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills to do so effectively.

Standard 4: Speaking Up for Every Child:

Families are informed and enabled to be advocates for their own and other children, to ensure that students are treated fairly and have access to learning opportunities that will support their success.

Standard 5: Sharing Power:

Families and school staff are equal partners with equal representation in decisions that affect students and families and together inform, influence, and create policies, practices, and programs.

Standard 6: Collaborating with Community:

Families and school staff work together with community members to connect students, families, and staff to expanded learning opportunities, community services, and civic participation.

Parents will be informed in a timely manner about issues that may impact the lives of their children and their academic performance. Workshops will be offered at different times of day to accommodate parent schedules.

All participants will be more aware and knowledgeable about current issues that may affect their child physically, socially, emotionally, and academically.

During this week, parents will learn reading strategies that can be used at home to help their children improve their reading abilities. Students will receive a free book to read at home. Parents will also be invited to be a part of a school-wide reading event in which students to rotate to different reading stations. Parents are also invited to our Story Book Character Parade.

Students’ reading abilities will strengthen with parents and teachers working together.

Title 1 Instructional Facilitator will conduct the annual parent meeting. Parents will understand the Title 1 requirements and the school’s participation in the Title 1 program. Teachers will cover skills and expectations for the new school year. Teachers will explain the academic assessments that will be given throughout and interpret the proficiency levels of each.

Parents will understand the Title 1 program and learn ways to become involved in their child’s education. Parents will understand the academic expectations of their child for the year. Parents will also understand assessments and proficiency levels.
